There are over 5.8 million unpaid carers in the UK, looking after family members, friends, or neighbours who are ill, older or disabled. Despite the essential role they play, contributing an estimated £184 billion to the economy each year, many carers continue to feel undervalued, isolated, and unsupported.
This year’s campaign highlights the need to tackle the inequalities carers face, such as increased risk of poverty, poor health, and limited access to opportunities. It also encourages local communities, businesses, and services to take action and ensure carers are recognised and better supported.
Organised by Carers UK and supported by leading charities including Age UK, Carers Trust, and Rethink Mental Illness, Carers Week invites everyone to get involved, whether by attending events, sharing resources, or simply helping to raise awareness.
